30 minute mix of various releases upcoming on the all city label – mixed by om unit. for those of you who have been festering under a rock wondering what happened to the sun all city records is a dublin-based record label (and dope record and paint shop) that has been hard at work the last 3 or 4 years putting out great music (digitally and on vinyl folks!) by the likes of onra, hudmo and mike slott (as heralds of change and individually), knxwledge, dibiase and fulgeance to name just a few.
om unit drops the flavours here with a little preview of the stuff all city will be releasing this year on the label. they’ve got plenty planned: a 45 every month, the l.a. 10″ series, a series of collaborative 12″ plus lps from onra, knxwledge & more. dld

since 2007 there has been a distinctive reason to come to athens in february and wander around the historic center of the city: the design walk. each year, studios open their doors to visitors, inviting them to follow a trail that brings them closer to the most functional and everyday applied art.
the walk takes in the vibrant area of the city next to the acropolis, leading the visitor between cult shops and hip bars to discover works by award-winning graphic designers, in one of the most inspiring neighbourhoods in europe, where ancient greece, west, east, yesterday and tomorrow meet. for the 2010 walk, double-decker, the london-based curating agency, is challenging 13 graphic design studios to create a piece of work inspired by the contradictions / oppositions with which every designer has to deal, and which arise from fundamental questions in design methodology. the resulting exhibition, poles apart, will give a unique visual insight into the creative process – as well as its curious contradictions.
the design walk consists of studios opening their doors to visitors, inviting them to follow a walk that brings them closer to the most functional and everyday applied art. the initiative was started by a small team of graphic designers that spotted the opportunity to trigger a profound dialogue between the graphic design studios of that particular neighborhood and the public. the design walk is in conjunction with the greek graphic designers association.
the design walk 2010 will host the first ever athens silent sound show. the event will take place on sunday the 7th of february, 22:00, at bios.
jaylib vs j rocc
“the year was 2003. j dilla and madlib had just wrapped up their album champion sound, recording as jaylib, with dilla then still in detroit and madlib doing all his work from his bomb shelter studio in los angeles. j rocc – who would later become the third member of jaylib, on the turntables for each of the shows the guys did together – put together this mixtape of dilla, madlib and jaylib songs, as well as some of their sources, essentially telling the story of this group.
We had some promo copies of this cd floating around for a while that year, then took the jaylib section and pressed it on a 45, which was released as the bonus 45 with champion sound. both the cd and 45 are long out of stock.” stones throw records

i follow the link from brainfeeder in order to get ras g’s exclusive mix for bts radio (ras g creates the music that people will be playing in the ghettos of mars in the year 3014) and there i find a great mix from the creator of beneath the surface radio andrew meza for black athena and also a unique mix from letherette who last year remixed bibio’s “lovers carvings“..enjoy pure urban sounds
